Overview
Machame Route gives a diverse landscape and fantastic views offers a unique experience to test your will power, fitness finesse, and mental strength. The route takes you through lush rain-forest, where colobus monkeys roam, into heath and moorland, with its many ferns and ericas, until finally reaching the icy caps of the mountain top. Varying altitudes, as well as a little help from lady luck, offer a good environment for acclimatization, enhancing your chances of reaching the summit. Overnights on these routes are in the tents.

Day 0 | Arrival in Moshi
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a representative from Langa Africa Safaris will greet you and transfer you to your accommodation at Tulia boutique lodge or a similar retreat in Moshi. Relax, enjoy the serene surroundings, and prepare for your adventure ahead. In the evening, attend a pre-trek briefing with your guide to review the climb details and ensure you have all the necessary gear.

Day 1 | Moshi to Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Your adventure begins with a transfer to Machame Gate (1,640 m). After registration, start your trek through the lush rainforest, where you’ll encounter diverse flora and fauna. Arrive at Machame Camp (2,835 m) in the late afternoon, where your team will have set up camp.

Day 2 | Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before trekking through heather and moorland. The trail becomes steeper as you ascend to Shira Camp (3,750 m), offering stunning views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau.

Day 3 | Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Today’s trek takes you to Lava Tower (4,600 m) for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp (3,950 m). This challenging day offers incredible scenery and a closer look at the mountain’s unique landscapes.

Day 4 | Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
Begin with the Barranco Wall, a thrilling climb offering panoramic views. Continue through Karanga Valley before reaching Barafu Camp (4,640 m), the base camp for your summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak.

Day 5 | Ultimate Ascent to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp
Experience the thrill of summiting the highest peak in Africa with Langa Africa Safaris, renowned for their expert guides and unparalleled service. Your journey begins at midnight with warm drinks and light snacks to energize you for the final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). Trek under a starlit sky through the challenging terrain to Stella Point (5,739 m), where the first rays of sunlight will greet you. Take a moment to marvel at the stunning views before continuing to the summit, where you’ll celebrate your achievement with breathtaking 360-degree vistas.
After your triumphant moment at Uhuru Peak, descend carefully back to Barafu Camp for a warm brunch and some rest. Your descent continues to Mweka Camp (3,110 m), where a delicious dinner and a cozy campsite await to celebrate your accomplishment.

Day 6 | Descent From Mweka Camp To Mweka Gate
Your journey concludes with a scenic descent through the verdant rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 m). Upon arrival at the gate, Langa Africa Safaris will present your official summit certificates, a testament to your resilience and achievement.
Our team will then transfer you back to Moshi, where a refreshing stay at Tulia boutique lodge or a similar retreat awaits. Here, you can unwind and reflect on your incredible adventure with a celebratory meal prepared by the lodge’s skilled chefs.

Day 7 | Departure from Moshi
After breakfast, depending on your departure schedule, enjoy a leisurely morning at the lodge or explore Moshi town for souvenirs and cultural experiences. Our team will then transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your unforgettable adventure with Langa Africa Safaris.

- Tented accommodation on Mount Kilimanjaro (modern comfortable 4-season North Face VE-25 tents).

- All meals on the hike. Our Kilimanjaro diet includes energy-rich and highly nutritious meals prepared by our professional high-altitude cooks. A typical diet on Kilimanjaro includes different soups, garnishes, several types of fish and meat, fresh fruit and vegetables; vegetarian/gluten- free/halal options are available at no extra cost;
- All drinks on the hike (coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water).
