Overview
Marangu or Coca-Cola; course is the most famous course on Kilimanjaro today. It is the main course where short term visits are in cottages. This makes Marangu a decent choice for climbing during the blustery season. The course takes its beginning at the south-east of Mt Kilimanjaro. The entry to the course, Marangu Gate, is very near our climbing base at Aishi Machame Hotel. The ride there requires around 90 minutes. This course includes a very much trampled trail going through all the environment zones – from tropical
rainforest to timeless ice, and likewise will get you picturesque African scenes. Being the most famous and the most economical, the course might be packed in July-September and December – March. A 6-day choice is unequivocally suggested over the 5-the very first moment for better acclimatization.

Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be greeted by a friendly representative from Langa Africa Safaris. They will assist you with your transfer to Planet Lodge Arusha (https://planetlodgetanzania.com/), a comfortable and serene lodge perfect for your first night in Tanzania. The lodge features cozy rooms, a refreshing swimming pool, reliable Wi-Fi, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. After settling in, you’ll have a briefing with our guides, who will prepare you for your upcoming adventure.

Day 2: Trekking from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
After breakfast at the lodge, you will meet your guide and mountain support team. You’ll be transferred to Marangu Gate (1,860m) to begin your trek. Following a brief check-in and registration process, the adventure begins! Trek through the lush rainforest toward Mandara Hut (2,700m). The journey is a 5-7 hour hike, and due to the chance of tropical showers, we advise you to bring a raincoat and extra clothes. At Mandara Hut, our team will prepare your meals and help set up camp in the iconic wooden huts, which provide comfort and shelter throughout the journey.

Day 3: Trekking from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Today’s trek will take you to Horombo Hut (3,720m), offering stunning views of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The trail is moderate, and the hike will take about 5-6 hours. Upon arrival at Horombo Hut, you’ll enjoy a hearty meal before embarking on a short acclimatization hike towards Kibo Hut (3,920m). This short trek helps your body adjust to the altitude and is key to ensuring a successful summit.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
To aid your body’s adjustment to the high altitude, you’ll spend the day at Horombo Hut with an additional acclimatization hike to Kibo Hut. After lunch, feel free to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty, take photos, or simply rest before the challenging trek to Kibo Hut the next day.

Day 5: Trekking from Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
This day marks a significant part of your Kilimanjaro climb as you ascend to Kibo Hut (4,700m). The hike is moderate in difficulty, but it’s essential to pace yourself to conserve energy for the summit attempt. Once at Kibo Hut, you’ll enjoy a hot meal and prepare for your summit journey the following night. Make sure to rest as much as possible and stay hydrated.

Day 6: Ascend to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Horombo Hut
An early start is essential for your summit attempt. Depart from Kibo Hut (4,700m) around midnight to begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). This is the most challenging part of the climb due to the altitude, so it’s important to take it slow and steady. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and the vast African plains below. After celebrating your success, you’ll descend back to Kibo Hut for a rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut.
Elevation: 4,700m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) and back to 3,720m (Horombo Hut)

Day 7: Descent from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
After a good night’s rest at Horombo Hut, the final leg of your journey will take you back to Marangu Gate. The descent is much quicker, but it’s still essential to stay cautious and step carefully. Upon reaching Marangu Gate, you’ll receive your certificates for completing the climb. You’ll then be transferred back to Planet Lodge Arusha to relax and reflect on your amazing achievement.
